I am pleased with the opportunity to share this incredible offering with you. In my practice, I find that various learning opportunities present themselves in waves. Lately, there has been a wave of women inquiring about utilizing Ayurveda for hormonal health. This falls on the shirt tails of my own personal journey. And it is these (us) very women who often lack the time, energy, finances, and sometimes even the ability to commit to themselves in order to achieve the balance they so desperately desire. My hope is that AWAKEN can serve as the inspiration and education that women so desire and deserve to create a life of balance and ease.
There are 2 major types of hormones that affect a woman’s health; stress hormones and sex hormones. When we have the right balance of these hormones we have plenty of energy, we sleep better, our menstrual cycles are less symptomatic, we transition easier and menopause is less symptomatic, our bones and hearts are stronger and more healthy, and we are more at peace. Between holding jobs, raising families, caring for home, maintaining relationships, and navigating the ever-evolving reality of media stressors, maintaining balance with hormones has become more difficult than ever before. We blow through our energy quickly and pretty much outsource more than we insource every single day. When we experience stress, we release stress hormones. These hormones are rattling our nervous systems to the point of exhaustion. In order to sustain, the body signals for more stress hormones (let’s think of these as uppers) to get us through not just the critical stressors but, honestly, to sustain our day to day lives. In time, this creates imbalance with weight, sleep, sexual desire, and stress management. But more alarmingly over a long period of time, the results are chronic and health-altering.
The truth is, we cannot alleviate all of the stress of day to day life. Death, traffic, screen-time and quick fix type dinners are our reality. But in reality, we do have more control than we realize. And, the first step to achieving balance is understanding how the hormones work and how we can increase the sex (or more nourishing) hormones to help keep us grounded, creative, at peace and in our sensual state of being.
In this year long course, we are going to look at the HOWS of hormones, the WHYS of the imbalances related to them, and we are going to seriously change the path. It is far easier to maintain health and prevent disease than it is to reestablish it. Through simple lifestyle habits, diet, and building ojas (I can’t wait to introduce you to this incredible little gem of a friend), we can prevent extreme imbalance and chronic health issues that are related to long-term hormonal imbalance.
Join us once per month, on the first Tuesday of every month (beginning October 1st) at 7pm mountain time. Learning in community is simply so powerful. What stage of life should I be in to experience the most benefit?
We will cover information for people menstruating, people approaching or in peri-menopause and in menopause. Some information will be directed at specific audiences as we recognize that each stage brings with it specific symptoms, challenges and questions. All classes are open to all registrants in an effort to support our fellow class members in every stage. Multi-age learning brings great benefits to all.
