Sneha Means Love

“OIL TO THE BODY IS LIKE LOVE TO THE SOUL.”

Ayurvedic Proverb

Abhyanga - This treatment is one of the world’s oldest body therapy techniques which involves a very gentle touch oil application with warm, medicated oil.

We live in a time where the management of vata dosha, and its accompanying qualities, require a great deal of attention. With the fast pace at which most of us are living, the changing climate, the onset of toxic environmental exposure, the reliance on screens, easy access to immediate information, the reality of the nutritional value in our diets, and a heavy reliance on coffees, sodas and other trendy drinks, the increase in living costs, and a host of sleep disruptors, we are almost constantly exposed to dry, mobile, light and rough qualities. Not to mention, many of us are stuck in a perpetual state of giving. Whether its to work, family, pets, home maintenance or other projects, it can be hard to offer ourselves the love and nourishment we so deserve and that helps to maintain and serve the nervous system. These vata type qualities, in whatever form they enter our systems, are contributing to some of the most common symptoms in our society. Difficulty with sleep, joint pain and other forms of inflammation, dehydration, stress, anxiety, overwhelm, digestive issues like gas and bloating, hormonal imbalance, fatigue and a general sense of unease are among the most common symptoms that show up in my office and, for the most part, they can be attributed to too much dry, mobile, light and rough qualities. Our five senses are, simply put, in a constant state of depletion.

Ayurvedic Body Work is a unique form of self care that treats the vata dosha with little to no effort. Many of my clients find it difficult to implement an entire Ayurvedic Lifestyle that will serve them immediately upon coming to visit me. As with all good things, it takes time. I often encourage clients to bridge the gap when time or other restraints make it hard to implement all of the personal lifestyle changes that will serve them best by allowing themselves to enter a space of receiving.

Swedena consists of a steam chamber which gently soaks the body in purifying and detoxifying steam cycle.

Ayurvedic Body Healing sessions nourish the five senses, increase and stabalize ojas (the body’s vitality), relax and reset the nervous system, cleanse and strengthen the sensory organs, and provide deeply rejuvenating spaciousness for healing to occur.

In a safe and comfortable well-prepared environment, clients are encouraged to leave aside the worries of the world and step into a spaciousness of maitri. Treatments are given in a gently lit room with soft music, a warm padded table to lie on, and aromatherapy that begins the process of grounding and settling in. Warm medicated oils, which Ayurveda views as a form of love, penetrate the tissues of the skin and regenerates the cells. A warm, loving and tender touch alleviates stress and allows the nervous system to relax while the recipient is attended to with kindness and a great reverence. Each and every session is unique with herbal formulas, oil options, and aromatherapy that is suited to the specific needs of the recipient. Each session ends with a nourishing chai or snack to restore energy and to allow clients to float onto the next stage of their day comfortably and nourished.

Traditional Ayurvedic Body Therapies alleviate a great deal of symptoms and are great for all recipients based on the common factors impacting our health in modern times. We offer services that treat back pain, adrenal fatigue, thyroid/hormonal balance, digestive issues, stress, anxiety, respiratory and sinus issues, PCOS, cysts, fibroids, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, skin issues, premature graying and hair loss, eye health, sore muscles, blood circulation, weight, general body pain, lymphatic support, eye diseases, hair loss, insomnia and more.

Treatments can be paired to create a half or full day spa like treatment or can be experienced individually. Some clients enjoy adding the option of a days worth of Ayurvedic Meals and healing teas to their treatment day as a way to carry their self-care beyond the walls of our studio.

Eye Basti - Our eyes are our most used muscle in the body, therefore, it is important to nourish and strengthen them.
